Sifting through science, via ink

Image from Anne Helmenstine

Hello! My name is Steph, and I’m a 21 year old living in Providence, RI. This blog is a collection of thoughts about science. Its title, Ink Chromatography, refers to a technique used to separate out different colored dyes in an ink mixture. The result is a vibrant band of colors that resembles tie-dye.
Just as the process of chromatography illuminates the individual parts of a mixture, I’ll be picking out pieces from the science I come across, and expanding upon those bands of knowledge. The ink part, of course, refers to the act of putting these thoughts into words. The result will hopefully be a blend as rich and colorful as that created by ink chromatography.
What is a scientist after all? It is a curious man looking through a keyhole… trying to know what’s going on.
